What should mothers do after giving birth?

Even though you can't really prepare for birth (yes there could be a fantastic birth plan but still, sometimes you are not in charge of what happens before you give birth) you can prepare for the period after. No matter how your birth went, you can make sure what you want to happen after you give birth as long as you are flexible.

I believe that when you have given birth, you should be supported and cared for. Not just in hospital but also at home. You should be around people who can answer your questions, listen to your doubts and have emotional support. Someone who can be there for you one on one.

You shouldn't feel isolated or left alone after birth. The feeling of being supported makes you feel stronger and it makes you feel more confident.

What you should prepare for after birth is make sure someone is there for you. Not only your partner, an extra pair of hands. There should be someone that takes care of you, that makes you aware of that you matter, that you are important too just like your newborn. When you have someone looking out for you, you can look out for your newborn.

In my next blog I'll talk about how you can prepare for after giving birth.
